PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Electric heating technology to remove paraffin and reduce the viscosity of oil is to run heating cable (coiled tubing sheathed cable or rubber insulated cable) into the tubing or hollow sucker rod (with a hollow section at the upper part). The system is powered from the surface. Under the effects of skin effect and proximity, the coiled tubing sheathed cable or hollow sucker rod becomes heated to improve the temperatures of fluid flow and wellbore equipment. For a well having the problem of precipitated paraffin, the paraffin can be melted by heating, and then removed and controlled. Thus, oil heating and paraffin removal and control are realized in the process of lifting. Depending on the situation of paraffin precipitation in wellbore and the change in oil production, timing for powering up cable to remove paraffin can be selected. Meanwhile, the recovery of production is observed to determined the paraffin removal effect. Running of the electric heating system shall be stopped immediately after the expected effect is achieved. In this way, continuous or intermittent paraffin removal is realized. For a heavy oil well, heating reduces the viscosity of heavy oil to improve its fluidity, realizing the purpose of continuous production. This technology is widely applicable to various rod wells, rodless wells or flowing wells.

    The skin effect brings two benefits. One is to reduce the cross-sectional area of the current passing through the steel pipe and increase the AC impedance. Therefore, a greater heating power can be obtained with a smaller heating current. The other is that there is only leakage voltage and current on the outer surface of the steel tubing, and so the system is very safe.

    In the case of a flowing well with pressure, a blowout preventer, sealing device and cable hanging sealing device are installed at the wellhead. A special cable injection device is used to inject the heating cable protected by coiled steel tubing into tubing without shutting in the well in the case of being sealed and bearing pressure. The cable inside tubing is then hung and sealed at the wellhead. Power is supplied from the surface power supply control system to make the protective steel tubing of cable heated, realizing the purpose of oil heating and paraffin removal and control during lifting.

    The injection tools and equipment for injection under pressure in a flowing well comprises a winch of coiled tubing sheathed cable, a well control unit, an injection unit of coiled tubing sheathed cable and hanging and sealing device of wellhead cable.

Coiled tubing sheathed heating cable

After an oxygen-free copper rod is drawn and straightened, insulating and packing layers are mechanically wound, which is then subjected to sintering in an electric furnace to make the insulating layer integrated. After being pulled through a tubing, welded and drawn, the cable is made. The cable section is shown in the lower right figure. Because steel tubing is used as the sheath, the easily damaged surface is completely protected.
